2.3 Setting Up Your HQ
If you’re operating a single territory, we recommend that your King of Pops HQ is a space that you already have access to.
You’ll want to make sure that the space is easily accessed by the delivery drivers (frozen trucks up to 34 feet long) as you’ll be loading and unloading weekly or biweekly.
Additionally, as you add staff, you'll want to consider how to make this space safe for the team and for you and your family. If you only plan to hire family and friends that may mean different things than if you plan to hire on the open market for safety reasons.
You’ll need 120 volt electricity, and we recommend a dedicated circuit for each chest freezer. You should have enough freezers to store 4000+ pops per territory. Each cubic foot of freezer space can hold approximately 100 pops.
You'll also need 120 volt outlets for charging speakers, tablets, etc.
Finally, you’ll want a space to store your carts, chalkboards, Rainbow Umbrella, Drop Safe and a shelf to store your sales supplies (chalk, paper towels, ratchet straps, bluetooth speaker)
You can order shirts and other merch for yourself and your team at kingofpops.printful.me.
As your business grows it might make sense to create a dedicated space for your business. This will allow for more equipment and your team to come and go without interrupting your personal life. This will usually happen when you grow to operate multiple territories.
The ideal storage solution is one that is next to one of your regular cart locations. Ask the landlord or neighboring businesses if they have any extra space for rent. About 200 feet should do.
If that isn’t an option, traditional leases can get expensive really fast. We recommend trying to find something month to month with a lot of flexibility. You can find such storage solutions by tapping into your network, posting on social or on websites like neighbor.com.
