How we recommend setting up your Point of Sale
Tablet with cell service + Square Terminal
You can use your cell phone instead of a tablet to minimize expenses. However, we highly discourage having your employees use their devices.
Key Steps for Setup:
- Sign In on Tablet or Cell Phone:
- Open ‘Square POS’
or ‘Square for Restaurants’
app.
- Select "Sign In" and enter the device code for the correct territory.
- Enter your PIN to access the home screen.
- Open ‘Square POS’
- Connect Card Reader or Terminal:
- For Card Reader
- Go to "More" > "Settings" > "Hardware" > "Square Readers" > "Connect Reader."
- Power up the reader to pair with the device.
- Select items, tap "Pay," and process the payment through the card reader.
- For Terminal:
- In the hardware settings, select "Square Terminal" and connect it.
- Use the terminal as a customer-facing screen for transactions.
- Ensure the terminal is connected to the internet for functionality.
- For Card Reader
- Disconnect and Reconnect Devices:
- To disconnect a reader or terminal, go to "More" > "Settings" > "Hardware" and select the device to disconnect
- On Square terminal swipe from left to bring up settings options.
- Reconnect devices by following the initial connection steps.
- To disconnect a reader or terminal, go to "More" > "Settings" > "Hardware" and select the device to disconnect
- Additional Tips:
- Use an extra power bank when running a hotspot for the Square terminal to preserve the iPad's battery.
- Charge the devices using USB-C cable for iPads and micro USB cable for the card reader.
- Ensure to use the correct device code for each territory
- Keep the devices connected to the internet for uninterrupted service.
- If you use offline mode, be sure to reconnect device within 24 hours to capture payments
